Help Us Respond Across Western Colombia

A powerful earthquake has brought devastating loss and destruction across western Colombia. Homes and infrastructure have been destroyed, communities are facing enormous uncertainty, and hospitals and health facilities have been damaged at the very moment when medical care is most urgently needed.

For Conviventia, this is home.

For three decades, we have walked alongside vulnerable communities throughout Colombia and responded when disasters and humanitarian emergencies have placed families at even greater risk.

Today, we are preparing to respond again.

We are ready to mobilize.

We have an established network of medical professionals, psychosocial specialists, pastors, churches, community leaders, and trained humanitarian personnel who can help us respond with both immediate assistance and compassionate, trauma-informed care.

And we are not starting from zero.

In Chocó -one of Colombia's most vulnerable regions- we already have longstanding relationships with churches and local leaders. But the effects of this disaster extend far beyond Chocó. Cities and communities throughout western Colombia have suffered severe damage, including to health infrastructure, placing additional pressure on already strained emergency services.

We have the capacity to respond. Now we need your help to mobilize it.

Your gift will help Conviventia respond where needs are greatest through:

  • Medical care for affected communities
  • Psychosocial and trauma-informed support for children, adults, families, and responders
  • Emergency relief supplies and basic necessities
  • Training and equipping first responders and local leaders
  • Deployment of humanitarian personnel and health professionals
  • Transportation and local coordination
  • Partnership with churches and community networks that will remain long after the immediate emergency

Conviventia is already applying this humanitarian capacity in neighboring Venezuela, where our teams have been training responders and providing medical, psychosocial, and humanitarian support following the earthquake there. Now that same experience is urgently needed at home.

Colombia needs us. Help us respond.

This disaster will not end when the search-and-rescue phase is over. Families will face the loss of homes, livelihoods, security, and a sense of normalcy. Communities will need medical attention, emotional and psychosocial care, practical assistance, and people willing to walk beside them through recovery.

Your gift today can help put experienced people, essential resources, and compassionate care where they are needed most.

Please give today and pray with us for Colombia, for those who have lost loved ones and homes, for injured and displaced families, for health professionals and first responders, and for communities beginning the long road toward recovery.

Colombia is our home.
And when home is hurting, we want to be there.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1
